Position: Part-Time Classroom Teacher (Thursday & Friday)

Grades: 1st Grade

Mother of Hope Hybrid Academy is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Lower School Teacher to lead an elementary classroom on Thursdays and Fridays for 12 weeks while our teacher is on leave. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love of learning in young students while nurturing their spiritual and academic growth.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in alignment with MOHHA’s curriculum.
• Provide instruction in core subjects, including reading, writing, and math, using small groups with the support of a classroom aide.
• Teach additional subjects such as Nature Study, Latin, and Catechesis, while incorporating outdoor recess in all weather conditions. (No prior Latin knowledge necessary.)
• Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment through effective classroom management.
• Supervise and engage students in both classroom and outdoor settings, ensuring a safe and supportive learning experience.
• Communicate regularly with parents to support student development and engagement.
• Participate in professional development opportunities.
• Support students’ individual learning needs and provide guidance as needed.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

• Experience managing groups of children in an educational or structured setting.
• Commitment to being a joyful witness of the Catholic faith and contributing to the Catholic identity of the academy.
• A teaching certificate is not required, but should have experience with elementary education, classical education, faith based instruction, or homeschool curriculum.
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.

Montessori Classroom Aide

Position: Part-Time Montessori Aide (Full day Thursday & Friday)
Grades: Combined class of Pre-K3 and Pre-K4

Mother of Hope Hybrid Academy is seeking a compassionate and patient Montessori Classroom Aide to support the Lead Montessori Teacher and provide a nurturing, organized learning environment for young children in our Montessori program. The ideal candidate will assist in the classroom, helping foster independence, respect, and exploration, while also helping shape the Catholic identity of the academy.

Responsibilities:

• Assist children with restroom needs and snack time only when necessary, allowing for the development of independence.
• Straighten materials on shelves, dusting and organizing as needed to ensure a tidy and well-prepared learning environment.
• Cut paper for metal insets and various art projects.
• Roll mats to ensure they are easily accessible for children to choose and use during work time.
• Assist children with art projects, offering guidance when needed.
• Copy and organize paperwork for parents, placing materials in folders as directed.
• Straighten and clean food preparation areas to ensure they are ready for use.
• Refill snack supplies when necessary.
• Offer assistance during transitions between activities to maintain a smooth flow in the classroom.
• Model proper behavior and self-care, such as using a quiet voice and showing respect for materials and the environment.
• Monitor children during outdoor playtime to ensure safety and engagement.
• Maintain a positive, nurturing attitude, so children feel safe and encouraged to explore the environment.
• Protect student concentration by minimizing interruptions during their focused work time.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young children.
• A caring, patient, and nurturing attitude with a focus on supporting each child’s individual development.
• Ability to maintain a calm, organized, and respectful classroom environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff.

This part-time position combines routine cleaning and general building upkeep with outdoor gym classes on Thursdays and Fridays. *We are willing to split or combine these two jobs (Gym Teacher and Facilities Assistant)*

Responsibilities

Building Cleaning & Upkeep

• Sweep and mop common areas and classrooms weekly.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and other surfaces.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces as needed.
• Empty trash cans and replace trash bags throughout the building.
• Vacuum carpets and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of school spaces.
• Hang decorations, displays, signs, and other items on walls as requested.
• Assist with arranging and moving tables, chairs, and other furniture for school events and activities.
• Bring in and distribute incoming mail and delivery packages on a weekly basis.
• Perform general cleaning and light facilities upkeep to ensure the building remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Identify and communicate maintenance concerns or other building needs.
• Assist with additional cleaning, setup, and building upkeep tasks as assigned.

Physical Education Instruction

• Plan and lead a 40-minute physical education class for a small group of middle school students each Thursday and Friday.
• Conduct classes outdoors, using age-appropriate activities that promote physical fitness, coordination, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
• Maintain appropriate student supervision and a safe, positive environment.
• Prepare and put away any equipment used during class.

Qualifications

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Takes initiative and notices tasks that need attention.
• Organized, thorough, and attentive to cleanliness and safety.
• Physically able to perform routine cleaning, lift and carry supplies, and assist with moving furniture and equipment.
• Comfortable working with middle school students and leading physical activities.
• Prior cleaning, custodial, coaching, or physical education experience is preferred but not required.
• Must successfully pass all required background checks, obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and all other applicable child protection clearances, and complete all required Diocesan Safe Environment clearances and training before beginning work with students.

Schedule

Part-time; exact schedule and hours to be determined. Physical education classes take place on Thursdays and Fridays. Cleaning hours could be flexible but ideally take place on Thursday and Friday. *We are willing to split or combine these two jobs (Gym Teacher and Facilities Assistant)*
